essay #2

In high school, there are many cliques and rules of society. A lot of bullying, stereotyping and other troubles but the number one problem among teenage girls is pregnancy. Every year 1 or 2 girls walk around the hallways pregnant and most of them are not ashamed. I have had had an experience with teenage pregnancy, no I was not pregnant nor will I be, but someone who was dear to my heart became pregnant, my sister.
My sister and I were like two peas in a pod. Anywhere that my sister was I was. She used to comb my hair and tell me stories about her boyfriend and how they were in love. I was always in awe of sister because she was more talented than I was, prettier and smarter. She attended a prestigious high school in Jamaica named St. Hilda’s Diocesan high school for girls .she was an A student and had a promising future in marketing. As time rolled by and her senior year was coming to an end she got pregnant.
One day when I came home from school, I saw a letter on my bed saying “To my dear sister and father”. I felt a little tense opening the letter to read it. As I read its contents, my eyes grew wider and tears started to flood them. I did not know what to doing this situation but I remained calm until my dad came home. I sat on my bed and looked around the room that I shared with my sister and it looked a bit empty. I searched her drawers and they were empty. I was panicking inside because my big sister was gone and didn’t know when she was coming. I went back to sit on her bed this time, with no emotions not even tears. I was so still anyone would have thought I was a statue, I felt empty and emotionless like a zombie.
As the evening went by, I prepped myself for my father’s reaction to the letter. He came home with a smile on his face and as always, he would come something nice for my sister and me. Not being able to help myself, I ran and gave him a hug. I didn’t waste one minute because I know he would be asking for my sister soon, so I gave him her neatly hand written letter. He was a little skeptical about what it was but as he read on, I could see the anger raging in his eyes. I thought that he would be shouting and cursing but he didn’t he just simply gave me the letter and walked away crying. My heart sunk as I watched him cry but there was nothing I could do because he wouldn’t let me.  The months passed and I progressed into high school. I stayed in contact with my sister but never saw her.
After she had her baby, Joel Jordan Esscoffery, things seemed to return to normal. My dad was in love with his grandson and was on his way to forgiving my sister. He was mostly out on job interviews and going to extra classes so that she could graduate high school and try to get into a college. My sister was a very passionate person who knew what she wanted. There was always a light in her eyes when she would talk and sing to me but after she got pregnant, that light and passion disappeared.
Anyone can fall, but it’s sad to say that my sister had to become pregnant for me to learn from her mistake.  A lot of pressure has been on her shoulders from trying to juggle caring he son, staying in school and keeping a job, but at the same time some pressure  has been laid on me to not become pregnant and losing my way
Many girls that have babies are mostly single and hurt. It’s sad to see all their potential go to waste and them trying to raise their child with no support. However, I have learned my lesson. Never let anyone come along and try to distract to, if he is worth it and he loves you, he will wait because the mind and your education is a terrible thing to waste.

social topic

The topic that I picked for my second essay is bullying. The reason why I picked this topic is because there are a lot of kids being hurt everyday and some people don’t know when they are doing it. Bullying is a world wide problem and it hurts me to see people being teases and picked on because of their skin color or how they dress.
